ABOUT SONIA BERTELLI


I have always had a passion for caring and helping others which led me to my career today working with the community supporting those who may be experiencing mental illness or duress. I am here to actively listen and offer compassion and empathy to all.


I volunteered at a crisis line assisting those in critical moments because I believe that no one should need to go through those moments alone. I get it… Depression, anxieties, pressures in life and expectations from social situations can be so heavy and isolating. It was an honour to stand with those individuals during the most challenging moments of their lives. Critical situations don’t have to be lonely and are much easier to navigate with others, and when people know what their options are… there is hope. 

Within a counselling session, I integrate various approaches: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Somatic Therapy, and Mindfulness approaches with a person-centered lens. My goal is to work collaboratively with you, providing empathy and warmth, so that you can achieve your desired goals. We will explore coping mechanisms that work for you, and to take the journey towards healing together. I take a strength-based and goal-oriented approach where I encourage you to use the strengths you have so that you can achieve being your possible self, and the best possible outcome.


Everyone has strengths that have helped them get through life. We can explore what those are and figure out the best ways to put those into action for you. We will work together to reach your therapy goals through empowerment and encouragement. I use a person-centered approach where I believe the individual has the power and strength to achieve their therapy goals and live a more meaningful and positive life. 

My approach is to explore, label and validate the feelings and emotions you are experiencing and help you understand where the feelings reside in your body. The mind and body have a unique connection and often in times of stress, anxiety, or trauma, there is a disconnect between the mind and body. I am here to help you connect them back together. I will work with you guiding and helping you to navigate what you are experiencing. Grief and loss, stress, and trauma are held in the body. We can work together to ease physical reactions to the environment that follow grief, loss, anxiety, and trauma. You have the power to create change and achieve your desired outcome, I am here to empower and encourage you to achieve that.
